What is Pick & Place?

 

Pick & Place is a very widely used device in Automation. These devices are also known as Pick and place robots. It is an important motion subsystem component in the robotic system, which is used for positioning, orienting the objects and many more features are given so that robots can perform a useful task. Its arm provides the exact positioning due to free, almost effortless horizontal and vertical movement, it gets constant support, and positive control at all times.

 

The operator functions in the pick and places act as a guide in the control system of the machinery. Because of this, it enables quick and accurate 3-dimensional handling along with minimum pressure needed by the operator to control the load being handled. In an industrial environment, Lift-assisting devices are used to hold the place in the lift which are too heavy, too hot, too large, or otherwise too difficult to handle by hand by the workers alone.

 

As opposed to simply vertical lift assistants i.e. cranes, hoists, and many more it can have the ability to reach into tight spaces and take out the workpieces. There are a few things which we need to feed the Pick and Place robot so that it can work its job efficiently and accurately, and those are as follows;

 

1.     The suction or the holding pressure must be suitable as per application.

2.     The size of the part that needs to be picked and placed.

3.     Lifting the height of the part

4.     If a rotary type of Pick and Place is needed then a moving radius is required.

5.     The most important is the space required for the machine
